Africa Venture develops emerging leaders from across Africa. The leadership programme enables the transfer of knowledge, know-how and inspiration across the generations, involving inspiring African and Asian leaders and a very broad cross-section of organisations on the ground in Nairobi. The programme focuses on a particular Challenge facing Africa, which provides a vehicle for leadership learning. Africa Venture is a yearly conference focusing on different challenges, leadership and theme in Africa.

The Launch of Adolescents & Young Person's Sexual Reproductive Health, Rights & HIV (AYPS)

Kilifi County, Kenya, has a teenage pregnancy rate that remains stubbornly high. Despite efforts by various stakeholders to find solutions, many school-age girls still find themselves pregnant. A few months ago, Ken Miriti became the first County Adolescent and Youth Reproductive Health Coordinator for Kilifi County. Miriti has been instrumental in setting up strategies and policy documents such as the recently launched Adolescent and Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health (AYSRH) Strategic Framework (2019-2022) to address AYSRH as well as HIV and gender-based violence, which has had a remarkable impact on the provision of multi-faceted services targeting adolescents and youths.  The launch of AYPS was on 17th April 2019.

Agribusiness and Blue Economy Investment Conference

 It was held on 19th to 20th November, 2018 at Pride Inn Beach Resort, Mombasa, Kenya. The 1st Jumuiya ya Kaunti za Pwani (JKP) has partnered with the Food & Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) to host the event which was also a pre-conference of the first global Sustainable Blue Economy Conference (SBEC) that will be held in Nairobi on November 26th – 28th, 2018. The conference, first of its kind, seek to; Achieve advocate for an improved enabling business environment and relations among the six JKP member counties; Match make between agribusiness and blue economy stakeholders with business farming communities, governments and academic institutions; Market business ideas/projects and products for enhancing best practices/innovations and access to domestic, regional and global markets; Catalyze partnership discussions towards investments in agribusiness (Horticulture, Livestock and Fisheries), FNS and Blue Economy; Advocate for an improved enabling trade/business environment and relations among the Counties in the region with respect to the smooth flow of products and services along the agricultural value chains across the Counties in JKP and beyond.

Street Football World East Africa Peace Festival

Football was used for change, enhancing negotiation skills, understanding and fair play. Moving the Goalposts (MTG) uses football to empower girls and young women. MTG brings girls together in a safe space where they can play football, organize their own activities, become leaders and where they can discuss issues that matter for girls growing up in Kilifi and Kwale County, Kenya. Football provides girls with opportunities to excel. Tunaweza (We can!) is their slogan.  The Street Football was held on 6th December 2014.

Entrepreneurship & Innovation Youth Summit

The summit’s strategic focus is on entrepreneurship and innovation development as a key strategy to increase economic opportunities and participation by Kilifi County youth. Enabling us to reach our goal of attending to the Kilifi youth, who will benefit from the mentorship, guidance, and keynote speeches from industry experts drawn from Kilifi and Nairobi. We look forward to building a long-term partnership with you to jointly transform the lives of the young upcoming generation in Kilifi County through mentorship and other capacity building programs. The conference was held on 29th to 31st March 2019.

Kilifi 4 BY 4 Challenge

The Kilifi 4 x 4 Challenge presented a stimulating platform for off-road enthusiasts, fans and families came together for a fun, weekend-long celebration of courage and determination that showcased the very best of Kilifi, supporting the Flying Doctors Obstetric Fistula project in the region. The function was held on 16th April 2016 with an aim of helping Kilifi Women for a free Fistula Operation at Kilifi Hospital.

Embrace Women Building Bridges for Kenya' movement

 The Movement has took over Kilifi County on 30th August 2019. Embrace is one of the biggest political gatherings in history, bringing together women. Even though it started as a small group of women, with a dream of strengthening women leadership in the Country, it has mutated into a political behemoth, sweeping all corners of the republic and bringing women together, in a struggle for their rights, bringing together women under different political parties. It put blurred lines on party differences, ideological orientations and fiercely promotes unitary politics. An initiative by the women to, stop early political campaigns and targeted tribal threats with a special interest and especially passionate about the movements fight against marginalized women and youths, and the fight against the one third gender rule.

CECMS sworn in - Kilifi unveils new county executive committee members

Executives were sworn in January, 4, 2018 with a promise to serve residents of Kilifi with zeal and offer guidance and Counsel to the governor in implementing the agenda for the next five years.
Among those sworn are, Josphat Kazungu Mwatela will be in charge of Roads, Public Works and Transport. Professor Gabriel Gona Katana who has taken up the mantle in shaping up the Education system in the county. The Department of Finance was given to Mr Samuel Kombe Nzai, an accounting professional and auditor. Ms Mohamed will head the Department of Trade, Tourism and Co-operative Development. Dr. Anisa Ahmed Omar, to head the department of Health and Medical services. Ms. Liciana Jumwa Sanzua joins the Cabinet of Governor Kingi in Charge of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries.  Ms Maureen Mnyazi Mwangovya will head The Department of Gender, Social Services, Culture and Sports. Mr Charles Dadu Karisa will continue heading the Department of Lands Energy, Housing and Urban Development. Mr Kiringi Karisa Mwachitu will head the Department of Water, Environment, Natural Resources and Forestry. Ms Rachel Musyoki heads the Department of Devolution, Public Service and Disaster Management. The 10 Executives, now join the Governor, Amason Kingi and his Deputy Gideon Saburi together with the County Secretary in forming the County Cabinet.

World Malaria Day

 The world marks World Malaria Day and this year’s theme is, “Zero malaria starts with me”, a reminder of the common goal shared by the global community of fighting and eradicating Malaria. Malaria is preventable and one should take preventive measures when travelling to high burden areas. Suspected Malaria cases should be confirmed using parasite-based diagnostic testing Prompt treatment is necessary not only for the health of the patient but also for the prevention of transmission to those around them. The function was commenced at Rabai on 25th April 2019 a platform gave the community a chance to promote and learn about the efforts made by the Ministry of Health, Kilifi County Government in the prevention and reduction of malaria in Kilifi.
